The Growing Community Garden
Fruits and vegetables are building blocks for a lifetime of wellness and
yet many people in our community do not have regular access to them. The
Growing Community garden allows individuals from all parts of our community to work side-by-side,
providing a local source of healthy food for families and individuals
who may not have space for a garden of their own.
Volunteers are needed to tend and weed the garden, and come harvest time,
volunteers will be able to enjoy the vegetables and other crops grown
in the garden. Any remaining produce will be shared with a local food pantry.

What is being grown in the garden?
The garden is planned and planted by students from the James Wood High
School Agriculture program and includes vegetables like tomatoes, peppers
and squash.
How much time is required?
Volunteers are encouraged to commit to spending an hour a week throughout
the growing season to tend the garden. Volunteers are welcome Tuesday
– Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m (Wednesdays until 8:00 p.m. between
Memorial Day and Labor Day).
Who can volunteer?
Volunteers of all ages are welcome. Minors age 14 and under must be supervised
by an adult while in the garden.
Do volunteers need gardening tools?
No need to bring your own gardening tools. Rakes, trowels and other tools
will be available at the garden.
Growing Community is an initiative of James Wood High School Agriculture,
