We are also equipped to perform minor surgeries as well as minor medical procedures including:

  • Manometry
  • Thoracentesis
  • Liver biopsy
  • Paracentesis

These procedures typically last approximately one hour. For procedures that affect vision or mobility, patients will be asked to plan transportation. Patients undergoing any kind of GI endoscopy procedure should plan a stay of approximately three hours at the hospital due to sedation, with the exception of sigmoidoscopy procedures, which do not involve sedation and normally take about one hour. All patients undergoing a procedure involving sedation should arrange outside transportation.

What Is Endoscopy?

Endoscopy is a procedure that uses an endoscope or “scope.” Endoscopes are used for viewing the inside of the body, and they may also be used in some types of surgeries. Endoscopies are typically lighted and some are equipped with tiny video cameras that feed images to a computer screen. Endoscopy is used to provide images of parts of the body that could not otherwise be seen. It is heavily used in the screening for cancer, as well as in diagnosis and treatment.
