neurosurgery and interventional neurology who utilize advanced technology

Our Neurosciences team takes a multidisciplinary approach to treatment.

Spine Surgery
Skilled spine surgeons have more than a century of combined experience
in back surgery. Whether a patient needs a minimally-invasive procedure
or a complicated surgery, our neurosurgeons are well-equipped to deliver
consistent, high-quality care. Each and every step of the process is patient-focused.
Stroke
Valley Health’s Winchester Medical Center (WMC) has been certified
by the Joint Commission as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center. As such,
patients treated in the center have the best chance of stroke survival
and will experience state-of-the-art recovery services. In addition, our
center is the only Joint Commission-certified Advanced Primary Stroke
Center in the northern Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia.
Epilepsy
The National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC) has designated The
Virginia Comprehensive Epilepsy Program at Winchester Medical Center as
a Level 4 Epilepsy Center. This is the highest level available to be awarded
to treatment centers. Our treatments include anti-seizure medications,
vagal nerve stimulation, responsive neuro-stimulation, epilepsy surgery,
and modified diet programs for all ages.
Brain Surgery
Our neurosurgeons and experienced staff provide advanced treatment for
patients suffering from numerous conditions, including blood clots, brain
tumors, brain abscesses, traumatic brain injuries, and cerebral aneurysms.
Our experienced treatment team can help from diagnosis to rehabilitation.
Movement Disorders
We offer treatments for patients suffering from Parkinson’s Disease
and Essential Tremor. In some cases, patients may be eligible to receive
Deep Brain Stimulation surgery. This procedure can often decrease and,
in some cases, alleviate tremors.
Concussion
In collaboration with Mariecken Fowler, MD, Valley Health has introduced
ImPACT™ to local high schools. This program stands for Immediate
Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing. The program tracks student
athletes and monitors their return to play after impact.
Neurodiagnostics & Neuroimaging
Our highly trained neurologists specialize in the use of state-of-the-art
imaging technologies. We also utilize advanced diagnostic technologies
to offer a wide variety of testing services for neurological disorders.
