Aortic Disease
Disorders of the aorta can be some of the most challenging problems facing
patients and their physicians. The aorta, the largest artery in the body
and spanning the entire length of chest and abdominal cavities, can develop
aneurysms, ulceration, dissection, infection or even sudden rupture leading
to death. Most commonly, these develop with little symptoms and are detected
incidentally. At Valley Health, we have a dedicated multidisciplinary
team focused on the treatment of aortic disorders. Our expert specialists
are able to detect and treat acute or chronic aortic problems with the
most advanced and minimally-invasive approaches using individualized,
patient-specific strategies for optimal results and quick recovery.
Highlights of the AVAC aortic program include:
- Minimally-invasive and endovascular repair of abdominal and thoracic aortic
aneurysms (EVAR, TEVAR, fenestrated grafts)
- 24/7 aortic team availability for management of acute aortic syndromes
(dissection, rupture, etc.)
- State-of-the-art imaging of the aorta with cardiovascular MRI/MRA and CT
angiography
- Dedicated aortic clinic (focused on medical, non-surgical and interventional
management)
-
Innovative therapies focused on pathology of the aortic root and arch –
refined by Valley Health surgeon
Basel Ramlawi, MD
- Patient-tailored strategies for patients with connective tissue disorders
(e.g. Marfan syndrome) and bicuspid aortic valve syndrome
