Valley Health Celebrates New Construction Project at Spring Mills

              January 28, 2019

It’s more than a building. It’s 40,000 square feet of the latest healthcare technology. It’s specialists, primary care doctors and urgent care providers driven to provide answers and care for you. It’s nurses and staff who are dedicated to keeping the community that they live and work in, healthier. And it’s only the beginning.

Valley Health System and East Mountain Health Physicians held a Groundbreaking Celebration Thursday, January 24, 2019, to mark the beginning of construction on a two-story medical building at Spring Mills on the north end of Martinsburg. The six-acre site at the intersection of Route 11 and Campus Drive, just off the Spring Mills exit of I-81, offers a visible, convenient location for Valley Health outpatient services to help meet the primary and specialty care needs of this rapidly developing area.

The event also celebrated the steady growth of Valley Health providers and services now available in the Eastern Panhandle, including more than 40 medical providers in the past three years alone who have chosen to join East Mountain Health Physicians and Valley Health.

“We’ve been encouraged by patients, providers and Valley Health employees who live here to establish a more robust presence in the Panhandle,” says Chris Rucker, Valley Health Vice President of Ambulatory Services. “We are committed to improving access to high-quality care, including walk-in treatment for minor illness and injury, occupational health services, primary care for prevention and chronic illness management, and engagement with specialists in heart, cancer, orthopedics and other disciplines. We want to make it more convenient for busy Panhandle residents to access services right here, close to home.”

The first floor of the Spring Mills building will include Urgent Care and occupational health services, medical imaging (including women’s imaging), and family medicine. The second floor will be office space and exam rooms for Winchester-based physician specialists in cardiology, surgical oncology, and more.

During the event, guests watched a sneak-peak video on the project.

In his comments to the more than 150 guests, Valley Health President and CEO Mark H. Merrill noted: “We recognize that patients have choices; it is our responsibility and our challenge to earn their trust and confidence. It’s our employees and physicians who provide a differentiating experience to ensure that our patients’ expectations are not just met, but exceeded.”

The Spring Mills building is projected to open in early 2020.
