You’ll find them in Valley Health Urgent Care centers, physician
practices and rural health clinics. They assist in our Operating Rooms
and Emergency Departments. They are integral in specialty services such
as Winchester Medical Center’s Heart & Vascular Center and Intensive
Care Unit. These licensed healthcare providers work alongside Valley Health
physicians to treat patients from one month to 101 years of age. They
conduct exams, order tests, diagnose and treat illness, write prescriptions
and advise patients about preventive care. They may have additional certifications
in emergency medicine, cardiology, orthopedics, neurosurgery and other
specialties.
Who are these highly qualified caregivers? They are Physician Assistants
(PAs) and we salute them during National Physician Assistant Week, October
6-12. Valley Health employs 58 PAs who provide expert and compassionate
medical care as part of our team of more than 150 Advance Practice Clinicians
(APCs). Join us in thanking these providers for their dedication to quality
care for Valley Health patients!
