Hurst Hospitality House is celebrating 10 years of welcoming service to
the community this month! The renovated historic property on the Winchester
Medical Center (WMC) campus provides housing for families of out-of-town
patients in its 6-bedroom facility.
After its ribbon cutting in May 2007, the Hurst House staff welcomed their
first guest, and since that time they have logged over 18,000 guest usages.
The Hurst House team has hosted families from 48 states, nine foreign
countries and five continents.
The WMC Foundation and WMC Auxiliary raised almost $1.7 million to renovate
the property, and it continues to receive support for maintenance and
operations from the Foundation through an endowed fund. Twenty-one volunteers
and 7 paid staff provide guest services, 24 hours a day, 365 days per
year. Kudos to the Hurst House team for 10 years of being Valley Health's
home away from home for patients' family members! Read more facts
