Long-Term Care at Hampshire Memorial Hospital
Valley Health Hampshire Memorial Hospital Long-term Care is dedicated to
providing quality care for anyone who can no longer care for himself or
herself. Our staff to resident ratio in this 30-bed unit is excellent
allowing us to give the best care possible. As a part of Hampshire Memorial
Hospital, direct access has many advantages for the residents, including
the ease of access to acute medical care for emergencies. We also offer
skilled nursing care including physical, occupational and speech therapy.

Assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADL)
In many cases, long-term care is not limited to medical care—such
as skilled nursing, IV antibiotics, and therapy. Many patients also require
assistance with their activities of daily living (ADLs) and / or instrumental
activities of daily living (IADLs)
Examples of ADLs and IADLs include:
- Bathing
- Grooming
- Dressing
- Using the bathroom
- Transportation
- Housekeeping
- Eating
- Toilet care / assistance
- Transferring from bed / chair
- Medications
- Pet care
- Emergency alarm responses
- Communications
- Cleaning / housework
- Financial management
- Housework
Activities
Both you and your family member will receive monthly activity calendars.
Some activities include:
- Bingo
- Crafts
- Family dinners each month
- Games and Puzzles
- Movie Nights
- Newspaper Delivery: available on Wednesday
Visitation
Visitors are welcome anytime. If you wish to visit your loved one after
regular hospital hours, please enter through the Emergency Department,
ring the doorbell on the wall and a member of the ED staff will let you in.
